About this position

Overview: Construction project in Singburi, Thailand

In the Singburi area, Thailand, are still many families living in very poor housing conditions without basic sanitation facilities. Therefore this project was founded, to help the most needy families to carry out necessary construction work. Besides the work on private houses, constructions sites can also be schools, hospitals or temples. Within this community program you will be able to improve the living conditions of the local Thai community and get to know a new and foreign culture.

What to expect

Description: Construction project in Singburi, Thailand

In this community program you will do various constructions works such as the construction of necessary sanitary facilities, repairing roof , painting and a lot more.

Daily schedule:

After breakfast, you will be brought to the construction project together with the other volunteers. There you will get instructed what is going to happen on that day and what your exact tasks will be. You will work for around 4 to 5 hours every day from Monday to Friday with a lunch break in between. Before your project work starts you will have an cultural introduction week to prepare you for the new and foreign culture.


Itinerary of your stay abroad

Program flow in Thailand

Program start:

Before the start of your program, you will have an introductory week in Singburi. This introduction weeks always starts on a Monday and ends on a Friday. Your project work will start in the following Monday after the end of the introduction week.

Arrival Date:

We recommend to arrive on a Saturday or Sunday because the airport pickup is only included on the weekends. Arrivals during weekdays have to be organized by oneself or paid extra.

Arrival at the airport:

You will either arrive on the BKK (Suvarnabhumi International Airport) or at the DMK (Don Mueang Airport). In case you arrive at the DMK airport you have to take the free shuttle bus to the BKK airport. From the BKK you will be picked up by the transport coordinator who will bring you to the Singburi bus station. There your local coordinator will pick you up and bring you to your accommodation. In case you are already in Thailand you can meet the transport coordinator at one of the meeting points in Bangkok (only on the weekends).

Departure:

The departure is your own responsibility. The local coordinator will bring you an Saturday morning, after your project finished, to the closest bus station so you can take the bus to the airport or any other destination where you want to continue your travels.

Your accommodation

Accommodation during your stay in Singburi, Thailand

You will be accommodated together with all the other volunteers in one of the three volunteer houses in the area of Singburi. The houses are located around 8 to 15 km outside of the city of Singburi. In each room 4 people can be accommodated. Per room, one bathroom is available which will be shared with your roommates. All three volunteer houses offer a common area where you can eat, relax, gather around or use the free WiFi. The houses are not facilitated with laundry facilities. However, there are some cheap local laundry services close by. 

Meals

You will be provided with 3 meals a day during weekdays and with 2 meals during the weekend. The food is typical Thai food, which consist of a lot of rice and fruits is mainly vegetarian. The closest ATM and supermarket are a 20 minutes walk away.

Your local coordinator in Thailand
