About this position

Overview: Environment Education Program in Ubud, Bali

All over the world Bali is known for its beauty and green landscapes. This has led to an enormous growth in tourism and a rapid development of the island in recent years, which has brought a lot of negative impacts especially for the environment. The use and disposal of plastic in form of bottles and packagings, which are thrown everywhere by tourists and locals without any second thoughts, is very alarming. In addition, the change from traditional biological wrappers  in form of banana leaves to plastic packaging takes its tribute because these two materials can not be treated and disposed in the same way. The relationship between humans and the environment is an essential part of the Balinese culture. The Balinese are known for respecting their environment and treat it properly, long before this became modern in the Western world. For example the Balinese culture has a special holiday that shows gratitude to the trees for being so useful to people and nature.
