About this position

Overview: environmental internship at an NGO in South Africa

The organization is a social business that believes greening and sustainable living can be fun and accessible for all. They believe in inspiring a greener, more conscious, inclusive movement and do this through tree planting projects, green events, education, social media, voluntarism and activating people to start DOING! The companies’ mission is to green under-greened areas and combat deforestation in southern Africa. They plant trees on behalf of companies, groups, travellers and individuals wanting to invest in a greener future and improve the lives of communities in areas affected by lack of resources. On top of planting trees, the company strives to make eco-consciousness accessible, fun and popular so that a greener movement is inspired. The organization started in September 2010 and has since planted almost 10000 trees in over 140 beneficiary schools, crèches, orphanages, old age homes, community centers as well as deforested areas. The organization accepts interns & volunteers, whereby interns are mainly involved in the running of the company and volunteers get involved in practical implementation of tree planting & education in the field.

Your coordinator in Cape Town

"My name is Jana Williams, I am originally from Germany, but living in South Africa for 8 1/2 years. Nearly 6 years of those I stayed in the mother city of Cape Town. I am now managing all internship and volunteer placements for Studentsgoabroad Cape Town. During my studies of Social Work I did internships abroad myself. I have been to London, India and even in Cape Town which was 12 years ago. While still living in Germany I started placing interns in Southern African countries and always enjoyed this activity. This activity is interesting, exciting, versatile and most of all positive, as a stay abroad always enlarges the personal horizon.
