How should a company place itself strategically? How do the specific areas work together and which tasks are performed by which department? Administration deals with those questions and you certainly will not get bored, when you are working as an intern in business administration. The ability to plan and organize things is especially important. Business administration can be a challenge because the overview must be kept as – depending on your department - you have to overlook the whole company and its various sections. Decisions have to be made which can effect a company in short-term and long-term. For this purpose the employees have to plan the use of different resources to work efficiently. Creating a budget plan is also one of the administrative tasks. Calculating should therefore not be a nightmare for you because the calculation of the budget and the creation of financial plans is a big part in the business administration sector. To find out whether the measures were successful, an evaluation is performed. Only if you know the effects of your efforts, you can make good decisions in the future which lead to success. The activities in the sector of business administration are that interesting, because they are versatile and as an intern you receive an insight into the different areas of the company. You will get to know logistics, finance and human resources and you will make sure that these departments will work together effectively. The precise activities that occur in the administrative area differ among companies. If you do not back off from working independently and linking different areas, an internship in business administration might be perfect and you should have a closer look at the tasks.

Your coordinator in Peru

Donny is Dutch and since the end of 2008 he lives in Cusco, Peru. He worked at a Spanish school and volunteered at an internship organization in the centre of Cusco. He is responsible for the marketing, communications, the website and online sales. He loves travelling, "it makes you richer", he said. "It’s an escape to another world, far away from your daily live. Seeing beautiful countries and meeting interesting people charges the battery for the rest of the year." Every year he took a month to travel with his backpack in countries in Africa and South America. Until he finally came back to Peru where he met Yuliana, his wife. From that moment, travelling became living in another country. "I now see what I didn’t see travelling!"
