About this position

Overview: Renovation Project in Tigman, Palawan, Philippinen

On Palawan, the people don’t have the necessary financial resources to carry out essential renovations. The aim of this program is to realize long-desired construction projects and fulfill the longings of the locals. Within this project, for example, damaged houses and community centers are repaired or schools are built. In this project, a close collaboration with the Palawan Filipinos takes place, which is an excellent opportunity to meet the Filipinos as they are: hospitable, grateful and cordial!

What to expect

Description: Renovation Project in Tigman, Palawan, Philippinen

As participant in this project, you will do construction and renovation work, such as painting walls, repairing furniture, cultivating green areas and a lot more. You do not have to have any experience with construction work but you should be motivated and energetic to improve the living conditions of the locals! This project offers a wonderful cultural exchange as well as on opportunity to find friends forever. Working together and supporting each other is a wonderful experience that you will never forget after finishing the project.

Daily schedule:

From Monday to Friday you will work in the mornings as well as in the afternoons in the project. in between you will have time to get your lunch. Before your project work starts you will have an introductory week to prepare you for the new and foreign culture.


Itinerary of your stay abroad

Program flow in Tigman, Philippinen

Time of arrival
Arrival day is always on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Our partner organization will pick you up from the airport (Puerto Princesa International Airport) and drop you at your accommodation in Tigman. Introduction week and start of the program
Before the project work begins, a cultural introduction week takes place, in order to overcome the first culture shock easily. During this week you will get all relevant information about your project, you will get to know Tigman and the surroundings and immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions during a Philippine language and cooking class. In addition you will have excursions to the island's capital Puerto Princesa and to Narra. On the Monday after the introduction week your project work will start. Weekends
Weekends are freetime! Consult your program coordinator for excursions, activities and must see's around Tigman. Departure

Your accommodation

Accommodation during your Community Engagement work in Tigman, Philippines

Together with other volunteers, who are participating in a project around Tigman, you will be accommodated in a volunteer house. This house was built with a lot of natural elements and offers a tropical view on the beach! The rooms are equipped with bunk beds and offer space for 6-8 people. There is only a limited number of laundry facilities available, so you either have to wash your clothes by hand or you can use the laundry service for a small fee. Meals During the weeks you will be provided with 3 meals and on the weekend with 2 meals per day. The food mainly consists of local Philippine cuisine (lots of vegetables, meat, egg and rice) and will be served directly in you accommodation.
