Overview: marketing internship at a sports event management company in Auckland, New Zealand

The host company is an event management company based in Albany, Auckland. The events are all based in stunning natural locations in and around Auckland, the Coromandel Peninsula, Waihi, Waikato / Taupo and the Central Plateau. With the wide range of events (in particular off-road and trail running, walking, marathons and half marathons, mountain biking and multisport) we have an event option for each level of fitness.

The team has grown from one in August 2000 and ranges up to 10. The team consists of the Managing Director, Marketing Manager, Finance and Account Manager, Operation Manager and four Event Manager. Everyone comes from different backgrounds, and has generally been educated in and around the sport / event / recreation arenas at various tertiary institutions around the traps.

The marketing intern is working with the Marketing Director and with the Event Manager for each event. Different marketing operations are trying to enhance the number of participants for the event. The Tasks have a huge variety from past participants communication up to marketing operations for new customer.

Your coordinator in New Zealand

Monique is a creative, enthusiastic person with a positive attitude who enjoys a challenge. She has a strong background in hospitality, and a degree in Event Management. Furthermore, she loves to travel, and spent 5 years in the U.K, Ireland, Canada, Australia and Europe. She met her Italian husband in Ireland and they finally returned to New Zealand and now have two beautiful Kiwi/Italian children! As an agent for SGA, she always does her best to find internships for the students that they are going to really enjoy. Having spent time overseas, she knows how important it is to feel happy in a foreign country and so she always tries to support them, however she can while they are there.
